Bipinchandra Ramchandra Pal, powerful revolutionary and journalist, was born in a place called Silhat (now in Bangladesh). He was amoung the trio which was known as ""Lal - Bal - Pal"" during the freedom struggle. He started as newspaper called ""Swaraj"" for the Indians in England. | 6/6/1903 | A full length theatre plays like 'Bankimchandrer Sitararn', 'Alibaba' , 'Bhramar', 'Hariraj' , 'Sarla' and 'Buddhadeb' were released at Classic Theatre. These plays were picturised by Hiralal Sen with support of great dramatist Amar Nath Dutt. The main roles were performed by Amar Dutt, N.C. Basu and Kusum Kumari and rest of the characters belonged to the Classic Theatre of Calcutta. They received a great applause from the audience. |

| 8/11/1908 | Khudiram Bose was hanged on this day in Central Jail at Mujaffarpur, Bihar at the age of 19 years. He along with Prafulla Chaki had planned to bomb the carriage supposed to be carrying Kingsford, unfortunately he was betrayed and was caught and finally was sentenced to death and hanged. This day is observed as ""Martyr's Day"" in memory of the great freedom fighter. Even today the soul stirring songs composed in his honour are sung by Bengali folk-singers. |
