Paramahansa Yogananda (1893-1952), universalist Hindu, great saint, social reformer, writer and litterateur was born at Gorakhpur. He was the renaissance founder of Self Realization Fellowship (1925) in US, author of famed 'Autobiography of a Yogi' (1946), popular book globalizing India's spiritual traditions.

She was the only child of Jawharlal Nehru and took active participation in freedom fight by forming ""Vanar Sena"" (a team of young detectives). She lead India in a successful war against Pakistan to seperate East and West Pakistans and establish the nation of Banglades

7/3/1898	Gopinath Bhagwan was born at Banamohalla, Srinagar. He is one of the most eminent saints who have graced the sacred land of India. An Ashram at Kharyar, Srinagar is set up by his disciples and devotees to preach his meditation.
2/18/1996	Kenya's first full One Day International Cricket match at Cricket World Cup vs India. Tendulkar scored 127* and India won over Kenya.
