Write a Review for Adi Kapyare Kootamani

It has humor in dialogues for sure and that will keep you engaged and you will definitely laugh. When you look at the whole plot, Adi Kapyare Kootamani doesn't have much of an exciting premise or a compelling story structure to its credit. But with actors like Aju Varghese and Neeraj Madhav performing really well in those humor portions, this movie directed by debutante John Varghese is a passable entertainer.
It happens in the backdrop of a men's hostel. Bhanuprasad who lives there is running short of money and a girl whom he met at the college canteen offers him the money if he will help her to get in to the men's hostel at that night. What is her intention and what happens after her entry is what the movie Adi Kapyare Kootamani showing us.
The sensibility of the plot and the sort of climax the movie has looks too abrupt. It is like they found the scope for humor inside that idea of a girl being inside a men's hostel. The entry and exit point of the movie is too fragile and that limits the film into a mere comedy entertainer which focuses more on the dialogues. I have laughed out loud at many instances and that is mainly because of the verbal exchange which creates humor. The idea is pretty much similar to those Priyadarshan movies filled with chaos and confusion but they haven't overdone it and that's a positive.
On screen Dhyan Sreenivasan overacts occasionally to make the humor a bit awkward. The dumb character given to him was slightly overdone. You feel that because you have Aju and Neeraj who are in the same frame giving a better performance. Remo - Bruno combination works well for the sake of the film's comedy. Namitha Pramod was okay as the female lead. Vineeth Mohan was good as Koshy. Good performances from Mukesh and Biju Kuttan.
As a director, John Varghese uses the available styles to visualize his idea. As I mentioned, the feel is similar to those Priyadarshan confusion comedies. The screenplay also plays it safe with a plain narration. The only major problem is with the climax suspense they have added which doesn't really work the way it was intended to be. It is the dialogues that have done the trick for this movie. The humor in those dialogues will keep you occupied and much like Aadu, you can expect many memes in the online world once the DVD releases. Cinematography and edits are okay. Music is kind of average. That single shot song was a good effort, but the timing of that song was a little awkward.
Overall, Adi Kapyare Kootamani is a non boring cinema that mostly focuses on the situational dialogue humor. A better conclusion for the whole idea would have made it a better entertainer. For a runtime of 132 minutes, it is harmless humor.
